Riingo tried to charge Dan Dorfman 70 cents for an ice cube.

Outrage exploded when legendary financial columnist Dan Dorfman learned Marcus Samuelsson’s Riingo Restaurant wanted him to pay $2 extra for ice cubes in his wife Harriet’s $11 raspberry vodka on-the-rocks.  “Given three ice cubes, that made it 70 cents per cube,” he reports. A debate ensued and the restaurant removed the charge though it’s their standard policy for any on-the-rocks order. Last time Dorfman refused to pay for ice cubes was at Morton’s Steakhouse.  I reported it here and next day it was an upfront scandal in The Post.

"Riingo outdid Morton’s, which only charges 50 cents per cube," Dorfman says.  “That means Riingo charges 40% more for ice cubes.”  I’m not good at math so I’ll take his word for it.
